Peter A. Neissa was born and raised in Bogotá,
Colombia.
He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of
Massachusetts at Amherst and his graduate degree from Harvard University.
His first novel "The Drug Lord" was the fictionalized
biography of José González Rodríguez Gacha also known as "The Mexican", one
of the most powerful Colombian drug lords.
"The Drug Lord" is the result of nearly 14 years of
investigative research on the drug trade in both Colombia and the United States.
Currently, Mr. Neissa is a Teaching Fellow in the department of Romance
Languages and Literatures at Boston College and is working on his next novel:
"Conquistador", the novelized account of the conquest of Perú.
Critics:
Guy Gugliotta, of the Washington Post, and award winning author of
"Kings of Cocaine" said:
"The Drug Lord is a first ever look at the cocaine trade from the
bottom up, a strange and bloodchilling tale of how a two-bit Bogotá street hoodlum grew
up to be one of the world's most powerful criminals.
Peter A. Neissa's well-researched novel is as fresh as today's
headlines. Readers will finally be able to understand how the United States and Colombia
are bound for all time in an economic embrace with cocaine as the medium of exchange"
